What if I have never trained?
The actual test of a course is how much impact it has on a person completely unfamiliar with the content. Anyone at any level who attends a Shivworks course will leave a more capable and prepared person. Each course is a block of instruction and as much an experience designed to provide value to the day-one person and the seasoned combat athlete. There is no ego, nothing to prove, and no one wears a cape. When you train in a real-world scenario, everyone, EVERYONE, looks basically the same.
Extremes Close Quarters Concepts
Extreme Close Quarter Concepts is a two-and-a-half-day (20-hour) block of instruction that offers a multi-disciplinary approach to building functional, combative handgun skills at zero to five feet. The course is designed to instill core concepts to avoid, stabilize, and resolve a problem at arm’s length or closer.

Edgeds Weapon Overview
The Edged Weapons Overview course is a two-day (16-hour) focused overview of knife application methods. Many people carry pocket-knives for various reasons, but very few are trained to deploy them effectively for self-defense. This course gives students a fundamental understanding of edged weapons.

Vehicles Combatives And Shooting Tactics
We develop firearms and empty-hand techniques for encounters occurring inside and outside of vehicles. This is a twenty-four-hour block of instruction taught over three days. You must have already completed ECQC

Armeds Movement In Structures
A two-day (20-hour) instruction block focusing on negotiating movement problems within buildings with limited or no resources. Moving through a structure containing armed hostiles, perhaps by oneself, is probably the most dangerous task.

Practicals Unarmed Combat
Foundational block of instruction that introduces students to the parameters and context of criminal assaults. This block can be customized from a four-hour format to a 16-hour format. Students first learn how criminals actually assault citizens in the real world.

FOUNDER AND LEAD INSTRUCTOR
Trainer
Craig Douglas (a/k/a “SouthNarc”) is the founder of ShivWorks. Craig retired from law enforcement after 21 years of service, with most of his career spent in narcotics and SWAT. Since 2003, Craig provides instruction globally under the ShivWorks brand and has conducted coursework on entangled shooting skills in nearly 49 states, 9 foreign countries, Special operation units, all branches of the military, federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, and to three branches of the U.S. military, holds a small contract within the intel community organized under the DOD.
BRIAN FRIAS
Instructor
Is a Marine with six years on active duty and another 8 in the reserves. He spent 8 years as an Officer for the city of San Diego. Most of his time was spent on patrol, SWAT officer, and spent time on specialized proactive units. Brain trained for 11 years at ATOS HQ and received his black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from Andre Galvao. Brian owns Concept Jiu-Jitsu in Clearwater, Florida, and travels full-time with Craig Douglas, instructing Shivworks Material.
SCOTT OATES
Instructor
Scott is an experienced former Navy SEAL and 18 Delta Combat Medic. Scott has been an avid martial artist for over 35 years with a vast knowledge in a wide variety of martial arts, to include BJJ, Judo and Wrestling. Scott is a 3rd degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under 6X World Champions Saulo and Xande Ribeiro, and a Black Belt in Judo. He has competed at every level of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competition, both Nationally and Internationally.
